You're in good hands – Prior to purchasing the Village Inn & Restaurant in 2001, current owner Mark Belhumeur was a 20-year veteran of Les Clefs d’Or, the International Association of Professional Hotel Concierges, as well as the founding secretary of the Northern California Concierge Association.

Year round attractions make our Russian River location an ideal getaway!

We are located just eight miles from the Coast where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean, Jenner and Bodega Bay. Duncans Mills, Cazadero, Occidental, Guerneville and Forestville form a circle around Monte Rio and are filled with an abundance of shopping, restaurants, entertainment, nightlife and lots of local color.

Monte Rio is home to newly renovated basketball courts and USTA-approved tennis courts; boat launch and fishing access; Koret Park and Children’s Play Structure; Creekside Park and River Run Skatepark; Northwood Golf Course; the iconic Rio Theater – one of only nine quonset hut movie theaters left in the country; live theater performing group – the Curtain Call Theater; two well-stocked convenience stores; and, of course, the Village Inn & Restaurant.

Monte Rio Public Beach on the Russian River is a three-minute walk from the Inn where canoes and kayaks may be rented from Memorial Day Weekend thru the early part of October. Located on a large bend of the River, the Beach stretches along the sunny side on both sides of the Monte Rio Bridge. During the summer, a wooden boardwalk is installed which connects the parking area directly to the water's edge. A fully equipped concession stand and boat rental facility are positioned around a tent-covered picnic area overlooking the swimming area. The Beach is the center of the annual 4th of July festivities including the Big Rocky Games, Water Carnival and evening fireworks.

Over 125 Russian River wineries, most within a half hour drive from the Inn through beautiful Sonoma wine country vineyards. Winding through some of the most picturesque wine country in the United States, Wine Road takes visitors on a sensually gratifying journey of natural beauty, sublime tasting experiences and memorable personal encounters with the state’s most devoted and individualistic winemakers. Even for veteran wine travelers already well acquainted with California wine country, Wine Road is likely to be uncharted territory, sure to imbue a fresh sense of discovery. Along the way are some of California’s oldest wineries, run by vintners whose commitment to tending the vines and producing world-class wines, true to the appellation, runs back generations.

Russian River Armstrong Redwoods State National Reserve – The serene, majestic beauty of this grove, located 6 miles from the Village Inn, is a living reminder of the magnificent primeval redwood forest that covered much of this area before logging operations began during the 19th century. The reserve includes a visitor center, large outdoor amphitheater, self-guided nature trails, and a variety of picnic facilities. Be sure to drive to the top above the redwood line to enjoy the spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.

Along the Russian River lies the most unique golf course you will ever experience – Northwood Golf Course. Ranked #3 in the nation for 9-hole courses, Northwood Golf Course combines the magic of the architecture of Alister MacKenzie set amidst towering Redwood trees. See the morning mist meander across the fairways. Marvel at how the sun filters through 150-foot tall Redwoods. See the sparkle of the sun on the river. Follow your golf ball as you send it gracefully toward one of MacKenzie's masterpiece greens. Bring yourself, bring your family and enjoy everything Northwood has to offer.

Sonoma Coast Beaches – Long sandy beaches below rugged headlands, a craggy coastline with natural arches and secluded coves are features that make Sonoma Coast State Park one of California's most scenic attractions. A series of beaches separated by rock bluffs and headlands, extends 17 miles from Bodega Head to Vista Trail located 4 miles north of Jenner. Beachcombers, fishermen, sunbathers and picnickers can access the beach from more than a dozen points along coast Highway 1. Goat Rock Beach, near the mouth of the Russian River and only a 10 mile drive from the Village Inn, is known for its scenic shoreline and easily accessible sandy beach. Picnic tables and restroom facilities are also available. Goat Rock Beach is home to a colony of harbor seals which are fun to watch.

Local Gaming – At River Rock Casino in Geyserville or Graton Resort and Casino in Rohnert Park, you’ll find the latest in comfort, style and technology with ticket-in ticket-out machines, non-smoking areas for both table games and slot machines, comfortable chairs and a high volume air flow system – both are just a 45-minute drive from the Village Inn. /
