Amanda Jacobs, Chef de Cuisine
Joined the VI family in June 2008
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, raised in western Massachusetts, Chef Amanda Jacobs was always fascinated by the happenings of kitchens. As a child Amanda got an early start to her culinary career peeling potatoes and prepping vegetables for her family's café.
After a seven year stint making wheelchairs for disabled pets at Eddie's Wheels in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, it occurred to her that her true calling was cooking.
In 2007, Amanda moved to California with her husband to raise her two adorable young boys and introduce them to the Sonoma County lifestyle.
At the Village Inn & Restaurant in 2008, under the tutelage of the executive chef, then sous-chef Jacobs developed her culinary skills to include chef de partie, broiler, pantry, soups and saucier, butcher and pastry chef. It is here she honed her appreciation for aromas, presentation and taste, confirming her innate desire to please her guests.
Amanda appreciates Sonoma County for her beauty and bounty. "I particularly enjoy cooking comfort food with a fine dining twist", she beams with that ever-present twinkle in her eye, "and taking advantage of all the delightful fresh produce, fish, meats and dairy Sonoma County has to offer." Amanda, we couldn't agree more.
Allen Miller, Sous Chef
Joined the VI family in March 2013
Born and raised in Northern California, Allen spent most of his childhood watching his grandmother cook. After graduating high school he worked as a dishwasher, prep cook, server and host in Sacramento restaurants.
Allen studied at the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute where he acquired skills in safety, sanitation, knives, sauces, baking/pastry, stocks/soups, and butchering. Allen found passion in different ethnic cooking styles, which led him to embrace his love of Italian and Spanish cuisine.
Allen and his partner recently relocated to Guerneville. “Working under the ever watchful eye of Chef Amanda, I have learned to do magic in the kitchen…success being one part drive and determination, and one part my love of cooking.” Allen, we couldn’t agree more.
